akarta – PT Astra Daihatsu Motor will adopt smart assist plus technology on its latest cars. Amelia Tjandra, Marketing Director of PT Astra Daihatsu Motor, said it is still researching the right products using smart assist plus technology with the main consideration of the price offered acceptable to Indonesian consumers.
“If in Japan, the price of Daihatsu Tanto with standard technology is only around Rp150 million, but Tanto who uses smart assist plus the price is above Rp200 million. We are again analyzing what products are suitable using this technology,” he said Friday, October 25, 2019.
Amelia revealed that not all smart assist plus capabilities will be adopted to Indonesia, given the many different methods of driving a car between Japan and Indonesia. For now, he said, the most likely product to implement this technology is the highest type sigra, as it has used an anti-lock braking system (ABS) brake system.
Smart assist plus technology has five advantages compared to standard smart assist technology, namely adaptive cruise control, lane keep control, smart panorama parking assist, panorama monitor, and side view light.
The basic capabilities of smart assist technology include pre-collision warning, pre-collision assist brake, lane departure alert, lane departure assist, auto-high beam, adaptive drive beam, sign recognition, mis-pedal operation control, front departure alert, and corner censor.
Hendrayadi Lastiyoso, Marketing & Customer Relation Division Head of PT Astra International Daihatsu Sales Operation, said in general the application of new technology into Daihatsu cars in Indonesia requires a technician training period of up to 3 months.
“If you want to enter new technology, on average we need 3 months of HR training. In addition we also need to customize the supporting technology. The investment costs vary, according to the level of difficulty of implementation,” he said.
Amelia Tjandra said the smart assist plus features that are most likely to be adopted to Indonesia are adaptive cruise control, lane keep control, and smart panorama parking system. Other capabilities are considered not maximal if used in Indonesia.
