Cars have become part of modern human life. The existence of car is very helpful to human mobility when doing daily activities.

Especially now, models and types of cars are already very diverse. Starting from family wagon or now better known as sports utility Vehicle (SUV), up to luxury sedan class that gives more comfort.

The offered machines are also very diverse. Like class 1,000-1,500 cc for urban cars. Or the engine car above 2,000 cc which is widely used by four-wheel drive cars.

But this time we won’t be discussing the existing car variants. Time we will explore the history of cars. How are the processes and developments of cars from the 19th century to entering the second millennium? Let’s just look at it.

Pre 1880-An
Long before others thought of something that could take them elsewhere with the younger, Leonardo da Vinci had already made the concept of a “car” in 1478. This concept has not used the machine and is still a sket on paper.

Hundreds of years later, an engine vehicle began to be made by humans. Using this steam engine was used to aid the movement of the French military needs in the 1870’s carrying of war equipment.

This steam engine is assisted by three-wheel drive. His speed was then believed to be the same as the pace of man walking.

Decade 1880

The invention of diesel engines in 1882 became an important round in car history. Precisely in January 1882, when a solar-fired machine began to be introduced and then widely used Masyakarat.

When first created, this diesel engine emerged as a milestone because it was able to make the machine more efficient in the use of fuel. Diesel engines continue to be developed and still remain in use as one of the car engines.

After that, it appears vehicles with gasoline-fueled engines. Using three wheels as a mobilizer, the vehicle was created by German-based engine expert Karl Benz in 1885.

Not to be defeated, the American Serika Henry Ford has built his first car in 1886. This is the forerunner of the modern-day cars.

Decade 1900

In the early 20th century these simple cars that had been invented began to evolve. When it was first introduced, the car was not yet used as a round stir as we know it today.

Before 1900, stir in half-round car only. Some even use a kind of stick to move the front wheels to the right and to the left. After 1900, it began to be used and it was easier to move the car.

The speed of the car has also begun to increase. Can reach 15-20 km/h. It’s faster than the walking speed of people who are about 6 km/h. That is why the Alabama state Government, the United States, limited the maximum speed of the car by only 12 km/h.

In this era Ford began to introduce the phenomenal Model T. Thanks to the help of the engine, the process of making this car is sped from 7.5 units/hour to 146 units/hour.

At 1913 was born the first hybrid machine in the world. It was Ferdinand Porsche who invented a hybrid machine named Lohne-Porsche Mixte Hybrid. Porsche age when found this machine was only 18 years old.

Decade 1920

In this decade, cars have begun to become part of human life. It has even been a growing industry with the emergence of new car-related discoveries.

In the United States even many emerging industries that create cars ranging from small scale to large scale. However, it seems that only those with great capital are able to survive.

From about 253 vehicle industries in 1908, the number became only 44 in 1929. Of these, 80 percent of the market was overpowered by Ford, General Motor, and Chrysler.

In this decade, the car radio began to be introduced. So the car owner no longer feels lonely when driving alone.

Decade 1940

In the middle of the 20th century, the condition of the middle world was hit by war. The automotive industry was affected. They are focused on creating vehicles that can be on the battlefield.

One of the most important discoveries of the decade is four wheel drive vehicles. This vehicle is well-used for battlefields that have uneven ground conditions.

This military vehicle has a high enough speed despite having to explore the contoured rise and fall areas. Nowadays, people know him as Jeep.

Decade 1950

After the World War was completed, the automotive manufacturers again could develop the technology they had at the time. It comes machine with injection technology on January 1951.

The first car to use this injesi was the Gutbrod Superior and the Goliath GP 700 E sports coupe. Both of these cars were officially marketed to the community and received quite positive reception.

Early 1956, new technologies were re-discovered. This time the catalytic converter prototype started to be made. This was a scan of the community’s anxiety at the time of the growing amount of carbon dioxide as the number of vehicles grew.

However, Eugene Houdry’s technology was still limited to trials and applied to gasoline-fueled engines. However, the idea is that it’s a long way to move forward than the technology that develops at the time.

Decade 1960

The history of cars enters a more advanced era. Cars are increasingly in the market with a more compact and functional design.

It is not separated from the presence of the VW Beetle who had unusual design and was ordained as a popular car. The VW Beetle was inspired by the emergence of the Corolla, Civic, and Focus series which were pioneer cars with a simpler, less-than-large design.

Since then, car manufacturers have begun to race to create more simple vehicles.

Decade 1970

The safety side of passengers in vehicles began to be introduced in this decade. Starting with the advent of technology airbag on 1974. Coupled with a seat belt that can help passengers avoid serious injuries during accidents.

It is not separated from the speed of the car continues to grow high. The machines used have larger capacities that have a higher maximum speed.

Proven in 1970, a special-powered vehicle capable of sped up to 1,000 km/h. The vehicle, named “Blue Flame”, was ordained as the fastest vehicle on Earth when the test was conducted in the salt field of Bonneville, Utah, USA.

Decade 1980 and 1990

After the United States had once ramped the world automotive several decades, starting from 1980, a heavy competitor emerged. The Japanese Porak as a result of war has begun to revive.

Japanese brands such as Honda and Toyota have even been able to penetrate the U.S. market. Japanese producers offer different vehicles from Uncle Sam state’s products, thus attracting people’s interest there.

Developed Ecnology was able to compete with American and European production cars. Like when Toyota for the first time introduced the phenomenal Prius Toyota at 1997.

Toyota Prius became the first hybrid car in the world. This car was the inspiration of future-tech cars produced decades later.

Decade 2000
The history of the car continues to evolve positively in the second millennium. A number of the latest technologies are emerging. Everything aims to create a more efficient and environmentally friendly vehicle.

The desire to create environmentally friendly vehicles is seen when Peugeot is able to make governments and automotive manufacturers in Europe start using filters in car engines. The use of this filter eventually became mandatory for all European production cars for the health of its users.

Honda also did not want to lose. In 2007 manufacturers from Japan started to produce an environmentally friendly hydrogen fueled car. Honda’s production car was named FCX Clarity.

Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly machinery is the focus of every automotive manufacturer in the world. While the scale of the prototype is still limited, producers are showing their seriousness of the impact of more CO2 on the earth.

As VW raised when introducing their fuel-efficient vehicle protitles in March 2013. At the time, VW showed the car they were able to travel 100 km with just 1 liter of gasoline.

In the world of Formula 1 racing also began to be introduced vehicles by using battery power. The FIA as the World Automobile Race Authority has begun organizing this electric car racing event in 2014. The plan, in 2018, will start to be held formula car races with a listri powered machine.

The most advanced technology today is developed by Tesla. The manufacturer created the autonomous car of the aircraft with an autopilot mode. Despite a lot of criticism, but the public interest in the autonomous automobile was quite large.

That was the journey of car history for over a century. Everything starts from a small invention that is continuously developed until the end of a car that can be beneficial for human life.
